Urn Artistry – A Catalog of Wooden Cremation Urns

I have been turning wood sculpture since 2008 and one of the foci of my sculpture is in urn artistry.  That is I make one off turned wooden cremations urns.  Urn artistry is an adaptation out of my asymmetric hollow forms.  The idea has always been to create forms of cremation urns that are more appealing (visually), comforting, and warm as compared to the majority of cremation vessels available.  As in my sculptural forms what I believe makes this work is that I essentially reveal what God has created and left for us to see.  Those forms and that beauty are largely hidden to us in our daily coming and going.   Hopefully these vessels help people mourn and heal in what is very often a difficult season.

Catalog of Wooden Cremation Urns

I made a pictographic reference of my sculpture on another page and thought this would be a good idea for the urns as well.  I have cremation urns that are in various stages of completion at any given time.  Therefore, the thought is that this reference would be helpful for those trying to get an idea of what appeals to them.  This is useful in trying to determine what size, colors, tones, species, and finial detail look nice.  Its fairly common to turn urns specifically with some of that input in mind.  Eventually, this list will be more comprehensive than my sculpture catalog as I have been better about getting photography before a vessel is sold.  If your looking for current cremation urns inventory it can be found on my urn artistry page.  
The cremation urns are listed by order of completion.  If I recall correctly its getting close to a decade in terms of when I started making cremation vessels.  So I think it is neat to see the evolution of forms from the earliest things I have made.
